Glenfield Infant School

together we are brilliant

quotes

Welcome to our school.

Glenfield Infant School was established in 1954 and is situated in Bitterne, Southampton and provides for 4 - 7 year olds in a secure, safe, well-organised and happy environment.

We currently have a capacity for 270 children, aged from 4 to 7 years old organised into 9 classes. Class sizes will not exceed 30 children.

The school is set in woodland, complete with a nature trail, pond area, allotments and wildlife garden. The children use the grounds as an extended learning environment and find great enjoyment in growing their own vegetables. We also have an adventure playground which the children use under supervision on a rotational basis.

The schools holds a Healthy Schools Award and received another successful OfSTED in 2012.

We operate an after-school club from 3.15 - 6.00 pm during term-time which is open to any child of primary school age.

For many years there was an independent onsite pre-school - Brook Pre-School have now changed their name to Brook Early Years and are located on the Beechwood Junior school site. There is a link to their website on our home page.

Aims and Achievements

Pupils, staff and parents have achieved the Healthy Schools Award which means that we all encourage and participate in a healthy lifestyle. This includes eating healthy snacks (fruit or vegetables are provided FREE for all children), drinking water during the school day and the formulation of a travel plan which encourages people to walk to school rather than the use of cars. We have formulated a Travel Plan in consultation with parents.
