We receive regular visits from Speech & Language Therapists from Alex Kelly Ltd. We also receive support from NHS Therapists.
Simon Burnham is employed by the Trust and has his own Psychology Business 'Solent Psychology. He is in our school every other Wednesday. His work includes supporting teachers to meet pupil's needs, carrying out observations of pupils, meeting with parents, training staff and supporting the school with any children that have different needs. If you feel he could help you please get in contact via Claire Bradshaw our Inclusion Leader. firstname.lastname@example.org.
There have been recent changes in the School Nursing system and we now have access to a school nursing team, their role is provided by the NHS and they comes into school to do the Year R checks for height, weight, sight and hearing on any child that is 5 years old.
Requests for a referral to them can be made by either a parents or teacher with concerns about a child’s development i.e. wetting/soiling, hearing/vision concerns or on-going health issues that are non-urgent i.e. headlice, hygiene, dietary issues.
Home Language Support
Sometimes a child joins school and English is not their first language, in this instance we may be able to offer support in the form of a Home Language Support assistant. This is dependent on the home language spoken and the availability of a member of the Home Language Support team who can speak that language. We currently have a Polish Home Language Support assistant that comes into school once a week and she is also able to assist parents with communications from school or at appointments such as Parents Evening and Attendance meetings if requested.
